A major milestone for the Collgar Wind Farm has been reached with the commencement of site works for the construction of internal roads and hardstand areas for each of the 111 turbines being built in the first phase of the project.

Road grading works have begun nearly a month ahead of schedule to push in approximately 88km of roads to the turbines that will be built across the 13,000 hectare site.. Access roads were surveyed and after consultation with each landowner, construction has commenced at the northern end of the site, with works progressing to the southern end of site. The main site access road has also been completed, along with the set up of temporary site offices, batch plant bench, construction compound and engineering workshop.

Works are continuing on the Western Power substation bench, site batching plant, set up of soil laboratory and borrow pit. Throughout July mobilisation of heavy equipment for the creation of hardstands and foundation construction continued along with ongoing design reviews and works and it is anticipated that the pouring of the concrete footings will commence by mid-August.
