Australian Financial Review - UBS looks at more WA wind farms

Investment bank UBS is planning further wind-farm projects in Western Australia as it prepares to complete its Collgar farm in the state's wheatbelt ahead of schedule.

"We'd certainly look at doing more projects in WA," Paul Moy, UBS's global head of infrastructure told The Australian Financia/ Review. "We're working on opportunities."

Merredin Mercury - Wind farm energised

AN OFFICIAL ceremony was held at Merredin's Collgar Wind Farm last Thursday to celebrate the first energy production.

Energy Minister Peter Collier and Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls were special guests at the event, along with wind farm staff, suppliers, investors, landowners and local government representatives.

COLLGAR WIND FARM COMMENCES EXPORT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

Collgar Wind Farm ("Collgar") is pleased to announce the production and export of the first renewable energy from the wind farm today into the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). Initially the energy produced from the wind farm is expected to be relatively small as wind turbine commissioning tests and network stability tests are completed. Once the initial testing is completed it is expected that the energy produced from the wind farm will ramp up significantly as more wind turbines are brought into production.

Australian Financial Review - Giant WA wind farm spins up a storm

The southern hemisphere's biggest single-stage wind farm, near the West Australian town of Merriden, will begin producing electricity today, two months ahead of schedule.

Backed by global banking giant UBS and REST superannuation fund, the $750 million, 206 megawatt Collgar wind farm, north-east of Perth, will power, on average, up to 125,000 homes and nearly double the amount of renewable energy produced in WA.
