The Merredin Twilight International Food Festival was held at 6pm on Friday, 11 September 2020 at Cummins Theatre. Originally scheduled for March 2020, the event was postponed due to COVID-19 and rescheduled for later in the year.
More than 150 people flocked through the doors to enjoy a rich culinary experience on the night, tasting foods from all around the world!
In total the were 13 volunteer cooks from the community with delicious dishes including BBQ – Australia, smoked sausage – South Africa, beef and slaw sliders – America, tiramisu and arancini – Italy, fried tofu – China, sushi – Japan, assorted biscuits and deserts – Switzerland, tablet – Scotland, curry puffs – Malaysia, spring rolls – Philippines, beef and potato curry – Sri Lanka, crostoli – Italy, and macaroons – France.
Attendees also enjoyed live Middle Eastern cooking demonstration by Concetta Sulton, who has a published book called Cugini in Cucina Cookbook with the theme of traditions and authentic cuisine.
The night was a raging success, with many community members leaving with a full stomach and a smile on their face.
